They make original ink cartridges with recycled plastic bottles

HP's manufacture of original ink cartridges from used plastic bottles in Haiti aims to improve the lives of children collecting recycled materials, providing educational opportunities, as well as full access to medical care, and Health training and safety.

According to the company, this initiative has been possible thanks to the collaboration with the Thread and First Mile Coalition organizations and reflects the company's efforts to reinvent the design and manufacture of its products and how they are used and recovered, Fostering a low-carbon circular economy model.

HP purchases recycled plastic collected in Haiti, helping to create jobs while creating sustainable ink cartridges and preventing plastics from reaching the Caribbean Sea, combating the growing problem of ocean pollution.

Currently, according to the multinational firm, about 300 children collect recyclable materials from the Truitier landfill every day exposed to hazardous working conditions. This initiative aims to improve the lives of children by providing educational opportunities, including schooling, and full access to health care and health and safety training.

In addition, committed partners provide job training for adult members of the families of children who are also working in landfills, and will invest about $ 150,000 in entrepreneurship, microenterprises and / or small and medium-sized ventures in specific neighborhoods.

HP Supply Chain Manager Stuart Pann says that this action “allows us to reach out to the vulnerable groups in this area and have their plastic incorporated into our supply chain, creating economic opportunities and a better quality of life for these families”.
