Mexico is a potential manufacturing destination for the market of plastic injection machines, which has been strengthened by niches such as aerospace or automotive, said the analyst César Hernández, after pointing out that it is expected to continue the dynamism in this sector.

He pointed out that in the period 2013-2015 the plastic industry represented, in terms of employment in manufacturing, 4.6 percent and is expected to continue to contribute 2.5 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in manufacturing with a growth rate of 4.4 percent.

In this sector, sales are reported in Mexico for more than 12 billion dollars a year and a market value of 33 billion dollars is estimated, while the annual production of 3.5 billion of metric tons of plastic products represent 54 % of national consumption.

On the other hand, Hernandez, pointed out that one of the fundamental elements is undoubtedly the part of the plastic injection machinery in the country, as well as the evolution of this sector in the Mexican market, in which the participation of Chinese, Austrian and Japanese companies is consolidated, even above the US machinery.

Injection Machines Market

Commenting on the report of the injection machine market, estimated at 505 million 926 thousand 737 dollars, César Hernández pointed out that high-capacity injection machines have greater demand in Mexico with a total growth of 71 percent, which exceeds the growth of low capacity machines equivalent to 50.8 percent.

He said that during the last 10 years, the sale of high capacity injection machines in our country is practically two billion dollars, compared to the 1.3 billion dollars of low capacity machines. The specialist provided this information during the press conference announcement of the next edition of Expo Plastics.
