At Bobst & Partners Roadshow Peru 2017, various business partners from the machine manufacturer and supplier of services to the packaging industry were presented. Plast Perú News spoke with some of the representatives of these companies, who in general expressed their good commercial expectations in the Peruvian market.

Peruvian market: A challenge
Bobst and Esko are leading companies in our respective business segments and together work on the optimization of press printing, said Javier Faure Albanese, Esko Sales Manager for Peru, Bolivia and the interior of Argentina.

He stressed that Bobst with its excellent machinery and Esko with its high-tech technology, make possible to reduce the start-up time of packaging machines.

“We are leaders in packaging pre-press. Our main differentiator is the pre-press workflow software from the initial idea to the full automation of the pre-press”, Faure said after pointing out that Esko focuses on providing time savings and automation to be more profitable in the segment of packaging.

According to the interviewee, one of the most recognized solutions of the firm of Belgian origin is the Automation Engine, which defines a new standard for automating prepress workflow. It is a modular dynamic workflow server, easy to configure and operate.

On the Peruvian market, Javier Faure stressed that it represents a challenge for Esko because it demands a lot of personal presence; in addition, it is in full growth in the economic and in knowledge. “Peru's customers require many advanced solutions, new technology and everything that makes it possible to improve the productivity of their companies”, he warned.
He said that the main trend in the packaging market is the requirements of shorter runs. “We increasingly specialize in giving the converter the ability to work faster and better to supply short runs, rapid changes, miscellaneous products, SKUs, etc.”, he said.

"We have a lot of experience"
Macro Engineering & Technology is a producer of film and sheet extrusion systems that specializes in barrier film lines and extrusion machinery on request.
Martín Barón is the sales manager of this company for Latin America, who said that Macro has interesting commercial projects in Peru for 2018 with potential clients.

"There is enough competition in our segment; however, Macro exceeds the quality of business manufacturers in Brazil and Asia. Rather, we compete on equal terms with companies from Germany, Italy and the United States”, he said.
Barón said that Macro manufactures custom machines thinking about the needs of its customers, that is why "no team is the same as another".

He also said that the company specialized in film and plastic film extrusion markets its dual-bubble film lines with greater emphasis, enabling films to be made for heat-shrinkable high-barrier bags for meat, cheese and other foods that require a longer shelf life. “We have sold several machines of this line in South America, the United States and Europe. We have a lot of experience in these solutions, as well as in the film lines Blown and Cast”, said Macro executive, whose exclusive representative in Peru is Distribuidora Multigráfica.

"It is possible to save"
Jonathan Geiger, AVT Sales Manager for the South of South America, presented the Bobst & Partners Roadshow Perú 2017 with information on how to save during customer processes, detecting the times when a defect may occur and fix it before it becomes a problem for the end customer. "This is possible through a 100% inspection chamber dedicated to the graphic market", he said.

AVT is a leading provider of process control printing, quality assurance and color control solutions for the packaging, labeling and commercial printing industries.

“It is possible to save by controlling the color with an online spectrophotometer to ensure that the monitoring with absolute color data. In Latin America and Peru, the color issue is beginning to be accepted little by little. Globally, there are around 100 online spectrophotometers installed”, he said.

Geiger estimated that there is a long way to spread the color requirements in the market, as well as the use of the spectrophotometer to use it throughout the process flow. “We have over 70 % of the Peruvian market with inspection equipment. Without a doubt, our expectation is to continue growing, to attract new customers and to help them to save more”, he emphasized.
