Apiplast conducts technical business meeting Peru - Spain

With a successful assistance, the Peruvian Association of the Plastic Industry (Apiplast) and the Spanish Association of Plastics Industries (Anaip) organized the “Business technical meeting of the plastic sector Peru – Spain”, an event that brought together manufacturers and processors of this sector of the Peruvian economy, who were motivated to develop a circular future with plastics.

This specialized meeting was held within the framework of Apiplast's proposal based on the fact that businessmen are aware of collecting the waste generated by the industry and putting them back into the manufacturing cycle. The aforementioned association considers that we are in a world with finite resources and its use is necessary, therefore, it is necessary to introduce waste in the manufacturing process.

In his words of welcome, Eduardo Farah, president of Apiplast, told attendees his wish that the talks be profitable “so that their content promotes the work in relation to plastic in the country”.

“In the country, there are many formal and informal sector companies. On the other hand, there are people who forget the importance of plastic in our lives as, for example, its use in operating rooms where there are elements of plastics, which save many lives”, he said.

Circular economy: powerful transformation engine

For his part, Luis Cediel Blanco, CEO of Anaip, said that the circular economy is a powerful engine for transformation and nobody can feel alien to this reality, and that “the strategy on plastics is not a threat, but an opportunity that demands a true leadership vocation to the industry”.

He assured that plastic waste has that condition when it is not used. “All parts of the value chain must work together. Plastics contribute to development and social welfare; but, do we know how to communicate properly?”, he said.

Cediel thanked Apiplast for the organization of the meeting and said that the strategy of the circular economy includes the factors of waste conceived as a resource, re-introducing waste valued in the economic cycle, minimize production and properly manage the waste generated finally.

“All the people who participate in the industry know that plastic is good and generates life. However, there is strong pressure from the social and environmental environment that holds otherwise because it is claimed that fish, sea turtles, humans, among other species are in danger of dying as a result of plastics. That generates dissatisfactions, however, what the world community has to do is to avoid having abandoned residues in the sea”, he noted.
